Sridevi, the first Indian lady superstar who ruled hearts of thousands of cinema lovers in this song passed away on 25th February leaving people from industry and her fans in deep grief. Sridevi is an everlasting queen of Indian cinema. Ranging from South Indian film industry of Kannada, Malayalam ,Tamil and Telugu language to Bollywood, this wonderful actress had created a niche of her own.
Born on 13th August 1963 at Shivakasi to Ayyapan and Rajeshwari, she was named Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan. She started her acting career at the age of 4 and stepped into bollywood in 1979 movie Solva Sawan, but gained prominence only after the 1983 movie Himmatwala where she showed her extreme brilliance in acting and dance.
Thereon, she never looked back and have given many commercially successful flicks like Kadam(1984), Masterji(1985), Mr.India(1987) , Khuda Gawah(1985) and many more. Sridevi also cast her magical spell in various television and reality shows. After a long break, Sridevi had made a wonderful comeback in ‘English Vinglish’ and was last seen in a full cast in 2017 movie ‘Mom’ which had received positive reviews from critics. She will be last seen in a cameo in upcoming 2018 film by SRK ,‘Zero’.
She is recipient of 5 filmfare awards and was awarded with Padmashree, the fourth highest civilian award in 2013.
A film producer and model, this 54-year old star had stepped into the world of fashion in 2008 and had posed for several brands and magazines.She was voted “India’s greatest actress in 100 years” in a 2013 national poll conducted by CNN-IBN on the occasion of the centenary of Indian cinema.
This superstar breathe her last in Dubai at 11:30 pm where she was present to attend the wedding of her nephew,Mohit Marwah. She is survived by her husband, producer Boney Kapoor and two daughters, Janhvi and Khusi.
Sridevi will always remain a superstar and rule hearts till time immemorial. Her mortal remains will be flown back to Mumbai where her last rites will be performed.
